ASTA Supports Centrepoint

Centrepoint is the leading charity for homeless young people.
Every day we provide housing, life skills training, work placements and support to over 700 young people, giving them the foundation to start tackling the issues that led to them becoming homeless and to develop the skills they need for a brighter future.

Cricket lovely Cricket!!

Once again, the headlines are being made for the wrong reasons. Every industry has its own dodgy dealings. Most organisations are constantly trying to put their house in order and the time has now come for Cricket to do the same. The furore over the latest betting scandal to hit the sport misses the point as to where the problems lie. ALL Bookmakers are getting tarred with the same brush but these betting rules do not apply in this part of the world. It is only allowed in the countries of the East. To be fair to cricket, at ICC level, have taken very significant steps. They were one of the first sports to set up a proper integrity unit, in the wake of previous major issues such as the Hansie Cronje scandal, so I don’t think it can be said that the cricket authorities have done nothing. But in terms of educating the players, it could be that they’ve not done enough.

Lifetime bans are now being bandied about, on past track record, this usually lasts about ONE MONTH. The time comes for the ICC rather than the PCB taking this action.
